Band confirm forthcoming tour will be their last

Be Your Own Pet have announced they will split up after they complete their forthcoming UK tour.

The Nashville band broke the news in a post on their Myspace page entitled ‘BYOP Final Tour!’ saying:

“We are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK (dates below) are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years - its been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways.”

The band were due to play McCarren Pool, Brooklyn on August 7, when they were scheduled to open for The Black Keys, but will no longer play that show.

Instead, the band will wrap up their career with four shows in the UK. The dates are:

Reading, UK Reading Festival (August 22)
West Yorkshire, UK Leeds Festival (23)
Liverpool, UK Carling Academy 2 (25)
London, UK Dingwalls (26)

what?nooothe smaller bands seem to be splitting by the second...I used to love whn BYOP songs come on, they were like 1 minute long but still awsome

A real shame, their album is great. Hopefully they will continue to make music...possibly Jemina just wants to go in a different direction lyrically.

What a shame, i had the pleasure of seeing them support the Racontuers in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and i didn't even know they were on the bill til i came into the corn exchange in the middle of 'adventurer' great band live, you will be missed! Much love xxxxxx

i'm absolutely gutted, they're my favourite band ever. i wasn't going to go to the dingwalls show due to seeing them at reading, but now that its they're last ever, its kinda a no-brainer.lets hope for future projects, paticularly from jemima, its ALL about that voice.
