Liam Gallagher has claimed that Beady Eye will perform on the upcoming series of The X Factor.

Although the former Oasis frontman had previously branded the show as "annoying", he told the Mirror that he had agreed to play live on the TV talent contest to capitalise on its large audience and promote the band's new album 'BE', which is set for release on June 10.

"We're doing X Factor, I think it's to be on one of the live shows," he said. "I don't care man, we're rock 'n' roll stars and you can't argue that's a huge audience. You have to take that opportunity."

The singer also gave his opinion on former X Factor contestants One Direction and revealed he had had a previous encounter with boyband member Harry Styles. "That One Direction, I mean, they're not rock stars are they? Harry's alright though. I met him at the Olympics and I just said to him 'keep on keeping on'. He know what's happening, but he's nothing like me. I'm a proper rock 'n' roll star."

Last month, Noel Gallagher revealed that he had turned down an opportunity to star as a judge on the new series of The X Factor as he "didn't want to be on the telly every Saturday night". He was previously approached to appear on the show in 2011.

Beady Eye will play live at Manchester Ritz on June 19 before heading to London for a show at Camden Centre on June 20. The short stint will then come to a close in Glasgow at the ABC on June 22. The band have lined up festival slots at V Festival, Benicassim and T In The Park this summer. You can watch the video for their track 'Second Bite Of The Apple' by clicking below.
