Beady Eye have cancelled gigs in Belgium and Japan due to the injury of guitarist Gem Archer.

The Liam Gallagher-fronted band were expected to play the Lokerse Festival in Belgium tomorrow (August 5), before playing Summer Sonic in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday (August 10). It is currently unclear whether Gem will recover to play V Festival on August 17, the band's next scheduled gig.

A statement from the band's management read: "Due to guitarist Gem Archer's injury, the band regret to inform fans that they will be cancelling their upcoming shows in Belgium and Japan until further notice. They are very sorry for any disappointment this will cause but as Gem is an integral part of the band there is no way that they can play without him. An update on Gem's condition will follow."

Last night (August 3), fellow band member Andy Bell offered his support to Archer by tweeting: "Wanna wish my brother @gemarcherbe a speedy recovery X."

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher is reportedly suing The New York Post for libel after they alleged that he impregnated a reporter, since named as Liza Ghorbani, while cheating on Appleton with her in 2010.

The first hearing into the case of Liam's alleged child was held at a New York family court on July 26. The New York Post reported that Gallagher's lawyer Raoul Felder, who has represented the former wives of film director Martin Scorsese and Patrick Ewing in the past, informed the Manhattan Family Court that his client would not hand over information about his assets until a confidentiality agreement was in place. Ghorbani is reportedly claiming £2 million in child support fees.
