Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock: 'The love Adam Yauch put into the world is coming right back at him'
The Dalai Lama also pays tribute to the musician, activist and director
Posting on the Beastie Boys's blog, Ad-Rock thanked friends and family for their 'love and support'.
as you can imagine, shit is just fkd up right now. but i wanna say thank you to all our friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support. i'm glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him. thank you.
Yauch, who was also known as MCA, was diagnosed with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node in July 2009 and had been fighting the disease ever since. He died at the age of 47.
Since his death on Friday (May 4), a host of musicians have paid tribute to Yauch, one third of the influential rap group. Even the Dalai Lama paid his respects to the musician, activist and director, with a spokesperson for the Tibetan Buddhist leader saying: "Adam had helped us raise awareness on the plight of the Tibetan people by organising various freedom Tibet concerts and he will be remembered by his holiness and the Tibetan people." Yauch was blessed by the Dalai Lama last year.
