Beastie Boys putting final touches to ‘fully refined’ version of ‘Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1’

Trio still aiming for a September release for album delayed following Adam Yauch's cancer scare

Beastie BoysMike D has revealed the band are still on course to release their new album ‘Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1’ this September – providing bandmate Adam Yauch continues to make a good recovery from cancer.

According to D, Yauch is feeling “pretty good” at present, and is continuing to receive treatment for cancer of the salivary gland.

Speaking of the album, which was recorded before Yauch was diagnosed in July 2009, D compared it to making a fine wine.

“We’ve been letting it age,” he told Rolling Stone. “The writing is the growing of the grapes, and we’ve already macerated, and at this point, it’s been living in a barrel and being stored in bottles in the cellar, and hopefully by September, we will uncork.”

He also added that the tracklisting may yet change before ‘Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1’‘s release. “Maybe 16 of the songs will survive, and one will get cut, or get a substitution,” he said.

However, the rapper also explained that the band’s only real priority was for Yauch to get better.

“We make plans and change those plans based on what Adam‘s got to do,” he explained, adding that a sequel album, ‘Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2’, is also in the pipeline, though it is “set aside for [release] much later”.
