NY legends support ‘Rock and Rescue NYC’

The Beastie Boys to play animal welfare benefit

The Beastie Boys are to headline a gig in aid of New York's animal rescue centres.

‘Gimme Shelter 2006’ takes place on October 4, and aims to support “animal rescue and no-kill animal shelters”, according to its website.

Other acts performing include The Star Spangles and The Choke, while Blondie’s Debbie Harry is set to make a special appearance at the event, held at Hiro Ballroom at The Maritime Hotel.

The event is organised by Rational Animal, who create media campaigns to draw awareness to animal cruelty, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
