The band return with a new album...

RED HOT HEATON!

THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH have finalised details of their forthcoming album 'PAINTING IT RED', nme.com can reveal.

The album, the band's seventh, comes after a two-year hiatus following the release of their last record 'Quench'. 'Painting It Red' will be released on October 9 through Go! Discs.

The album was recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Bath and produced by Jon Kelly and Paul Heaton. Ex-Housemartin and big beat pioneer Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, is credited on the album as "rhythm consultant".

The confirmed tracklisting for the record is: 'Closer Than Most' 'Just Checkin'' 'Hit Parade' 'Masculine Eclipse' ''Til You Can't Tuck It In' 'If We Crawl' 'Tupperware Queen' 'Half Hearted Get (Is Second Best)' 'The River' 'Baby Please Go' 'You Can Call Me Leisure' 'The Final Spark' '10,000 FT' 'Hot On The Heels Of Heartache' 'Mediterranean' 'A Little Piece Of Advice' 'Property Quiz'

The album will be preceded by a new single, 'Closer Than Most', released on September 25, also through Go! Discs. The single will be released on all formats, and is backed by new tracks 'Moths' and 'The State That I'm In', as well as acoustic versions of 'The Table' and 'Blackbird On The Wire', taken from the band's appearance at this year's Cambridge Folk Festival.
