Beck has unveiled a new single entitled 'Gimme' today (September 17) - scroll down to the bottom of the page to listen.

The track - which clocks in at two minutes 30 seconds and features xylophone patterns and heavily effect-laden vocals - marks the third stand-alone release by the singer this year. In June, Beck revealed 'Defriended', while July also saw the release of two versions of new track 'I Won't Be Long' - one of which featured a spoken-word monologue from Sonic Youth star Kim Gordon.

Earlier this year, Beck spoke to NME, explaining that he had no plans to record an album and would instead be concentrating on this series of separate singles. "For 10 years I've been talking about putting out a series of 12-inch singles, one at a time. But I was holding them back 'cos I wasn't sure what I was doing with them. And I just wanted people to hear them," the Los Angeles musician revealed.

Earlier this year, however,Rolling Stone magazine also claimed that the singer was working on two new albums - one acoustic and one more in line with 2008's 'Modern Guilt'. Reporting that Beck would release both albums independently, the magazine also described the acoustic record as "a small-bore, self-contained work along the lines of 1994's 'One Foot In The Grave'".
