Beck responds to Fiery Furnaces attack with song about Harry Partch – audio

Beck has seemingly responded to an attack on him by The Fiery Furnaces' Matt Friedberger by posting a song online about US composer Harry Partch.

Friedberger originally accused Radiohead of being "bogus" for releasing a song about Harry Patch, the last surviving British World War I veteran.

It later became clear that Friedberger may have misinterpreted Patch, confusing him with Harry Partch, the experimental music composer. But rather than letting it blow over, he chose to continue the feud, taking a swipe at Beck at the same time.

In the jokey attack, a statement said: "Matt would have much preferred to insult Beck but he is too afraid of Scientologists".

Now, Beck has penned his own song called 'Harry Partch', which is available to listen to on Beck.com now.

"It's a tribute to the composer and his desire to make the body and music unified into what he termed 'Corporeality'," a statement reads on Beck.com "[The song] employs Partch's 43-tone scale, which expands conventional tonality into a broader variation of frequencies and resonances."
