Beck has covered Prince's classic song '1999' during a live performance.

The singer-songwriter played a portion of the track during his show at last month's Montreal International Jazz Fest, reports Consequence of Sound. Click below to watch fan-shot footage of the rendition, which follows the singer's cover of Arcade Fire's 'Rebellion (Lies)' at Coachella Festival in April.

Beck recently supported himself at his concert in Detroit (June 28) after his support band had to cancel their performance at the last minute. The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger had to pull out of their show at Detroit's Fox Theater after an illness among the duo of Sean Ono Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

Consequently, Beck played a 10-song, 40-minute warm-up solo show of his more reflective songs, before returning with his regular live band for a 16-song main set, which included a cover of Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love'.

Beck will play a number of UK and Ireland festival shows this summer, including Electric Picnic, Bestival and Festival No 6.
