GET SERVICED BY THE STARS!

Belle & Sebastian's 'auction of skills' has gone online today (October 30), offering services from an array of indie stars.

As previously reported by NME.COM, the bizarre event has been set up by the band's frontman, Stuart Murdoch, in aid of a range of Glasgow charities. Bidders will submit their offers electronically through the specialist auction site.

Murdoch, who is offering his services as a chauffeur to the highest bidder, came across the idea after attending a similar event at a church in Scotland.

Belle & Sebastian keyboardist Chris Geddes will cook a vegetarian meal, while Stevie Jackson will serenade the most generous fan. Also on offer are a day in the studio with Bis, and a loaf of bread baked by Super Furry Animals singer Gruff Rhys. Other artists taking part include Teenage Fanclub and Suckle. However, a number of the 150 lots have been offered by members of the public, including the production of Blu Tak figurines from a source in America.

The auction is being held to raise funds for the Glaswegian drug rehabilitation service Calton Athletic, the Lodging House Mission and homeless charity the Maryhill Key Housing Tenants' Fund.

Running for the next three weeks, the auction can be found at www.qxl.com/isroot/html/uk/bellesebastian.shtml.
