Ben Affleck rumoured to have turned down ‘Superman’

Studio bosses wanted him behind the camera

Ben Affleck has reportedly turned down the chance to direct the Superman reboot.

According to Deadline.com, Affleck topped the wishlist of the film’s producer Christopher Nolan.

The actor has impressed critics with his two directorial efforts thus far – the Boston-based crime thrillers Gone Baby Gone and The Town.

Nolan was significantly impressed to have offered him the chance to direct the next story in the ‘Man of Steel’ canon.

However, Affleck has declined the offer, although reasons haven’t yet been revealed. The actor actually played the lead in the 2006 biopic of a former real-life Superman star, George Reeves, in Hollywoodland.

Other directors rumoured to be in the running for the movie include Darren Aronofsky, Duncan Jones of Moon, Matt Reeves of Cloverfield and Zack Snyder.
