BEN FOLDS FIVE FOLD!

BEN FOLDS FIVE have split after six years and three albums together.

The rumours of a rift within the band first appeared on the unofficial Ben Folds Five website, www.fmaynard.com/bff, yesterday morning (October 31). The site claimed the three members of the band decided to go their separate ways both "musically and geographically" at the start of October.

Now, this morning, numerous US websites have confirmed the trio will no longer record together.

Two years ago, mainman Ben Folds married an Australian and emigrated - the reluctance of drummer Darren Jessee and bassist Robert Sledge to travel over for recording sessions is cited as a factor in the decision to breakup, according to www.fmaynard.com/bff.

No spokesperson for the band in the UK was available for comment, and there is currently no confirmation on the band's official website, www.benfoldsfive.com, although it is believed a statement will be made soon.
