THE BETA BAND have withdrawn comeback single 'SQUARES', due to its similarity to forthcoming track 'DAYDREAM IN BLUE' by I MONSTER, a single that is expected to become a huge hit.
Both bands had used the same sample from 60s easy-listening tune 'Daydream' by Gunter Kallman Choir - used previously by Portishead on their song 'Glory Box'. However, the I Monster version had been getting an increasing amount of radio airplay in the UK, particularly on national BBC Radio 1. 'Daydream In Blue', which this week was playlisted by Radio 1, guaranteeing crucial high-rotation airplay, is set for release on June 4, a week before the date of the Beta Band single.
It is unclear at present if the Beta Band will re-record 'Squares', or when they will now release another single. A statement is expected later today (May 4). Their album, 'Hot Shots II', is released through Regal on July 2.
