Beyonce 'over' being a pop star

The singer/actress doesn't want to be a 'hot girl' anymore

Singer-turned-actress Beyonce could be hanging up her pop star shoes soon, as she revealed that she is simply "over it".

The singer, who plays Etta James in the upcoming drama 'Cadillac Records' has also scored a role in the thriller 'Obsessed', which could signal a move to full-time acting.

"I'm over being a pop star," she told Marie Claire. "I don't wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I've accomplished a lot. I feel like I'm highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough."

She also spoke about her stage persona, whom she has named Sasha and says that she entirely loses herself in her alter ego when she performs.

"I have out-of-body experiences. If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don't even feel it. I'm so fearless, I'm not aware of my face or my body."

Beyonce is set to perform at Fashion Rocks in New York tomorrow night (September 6).
