Beyonce, Slash applaud Obama's win

'It's a huge step in the right direction' says Guns N' Roses man

Slash and Beyonce have expressed their pride and happiness at Barack Obama's election as the next president of the United States.

Speaking to NME.COM, the Guns N' Roses guitarist said that Obama's victory was "fantastic".

"After eight years of bewilderment, stupidity and humiliation with George Bush, I feel electing Barack Obama is a huge step in the right direction towards redeeming this country," he said.

Meanwhile, Beyonce said Obama's win brought her to tears. "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she said. "I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

She added that she will happily be at Obama's service, should he need her.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want — if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," she told the Associated Press.

Beyonce explained that she changed plans to promote her new album, 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce', in Japan so she could be in the US on election night.

"I said, 'what am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home. I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America'," she said. "I knew I needed to be here."
