Writers Guild says it won't picket Grammy Awards

But writers don't yet have a waiver to work on the show

The Writer's Guild of America has issued a statement saying it will refrain from picketing the forthcoming Grammy Awards.

Recording Academy President Neil Portnow has stated the show will go on no matter what, but no picketing may increase the likelihood of more big-name musicians attending the February 10 event in Los Angeles.

However, the Writers Guild has not yet granted a waiver that would allow its members to work on the ceremony, reports the Associated Press.

This may not have as big an impact on the Grammys as it would on heavily scripted awards shows such as the Academy Awards, since the Grammys rely mostly on musical performances.

The fate of the Grammys has been in doubt since the strike began in November, and looked even gloomier after the Golden Globes ceremony aired as a press conference earlier this month.

Management for Beyonce and Foo Fighters have confirmed that they will attend the Grammy Awards regardless of the agreement outcome, as previously reported.
