Beyonce to follow Jay-Z and play Glastonbury 2009?

Singer wants to follow in husband footsteps at British Festival

Beyonce has revealed she'd love to play Glastonbury Festival after seeing her husband Jay-Z headline this year's event.

The singer also surprisingly said that she was disappointed when the infamous Glastonbury mud didn't appear while she was there.

Speaking to Sky News
about her rapper spouse's performance in 2008 she said: "I thought it was brilliant. Jay had all the controversy - but he came out and he did good. I was there to experience the energy, it was like something I have never experienced before."

When asked if she would like to perform at the festival she added: "It would be really amazing…I would love to do it."

Beyonce also admitted she came prepared to this year's Glastonbury, saying: "I had my wellies and I got my outfit organised but it didn't rain and I wanted the mud!"

Before all the narrow-minded indie only people get their oar in...GO BEYONCE! She's done some great music, and I think it would be good to see her there. Especially after Jay-Z proved the haters wrong. Glastonbury also had diverse programming, this should include Beyonce. Hopefully she and Jay-Z would perform together!

Of course you wanted the mud pet, it's new to you, it's a novelty. Try living in the crap for a few days and then returning home to your shared boxflat and ponder how you'll survive the summer after maximising your overdraft.

Indie Snob: 'oh no! No guitars! I want Snow Patrol, Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs to headline because they're so interesting and different!'

ed2005 i'm not a narrow minded indie person but if you think Jay-Z proved the haters wrong you are sadly mistaken, i like a lot of people that went to see Jay-Z went to see how good or bad he was & unless you were jammed in near the front of the stage you would of seen thousands of people leaving after first couple of songs, as for Beyonce no doubt there is a stage for her to headline on but one of the smaller stages.

Are you kidding?? This will ruin Glasto....

Mr Evis said after all the jayz shit this year that next year's glasto would be back to it's good ol' self. so for the love of all music fans do NOT play glastonbury! x

yeah, they usually have a pop act on the sunday; kylie, shirley bassey etc, this would be awesome, id trek over to watch it. Now lets wait for all the stuck up (read narrow minded and probably racist) fools to go 'not at glastonbury, not indie enough blah blah blah'

Go ahead and do this glastombry people, if you want another crap headliner which drives away hundreds/thousands of fans who want guitar music

Decemboy

A reformed Destiny's Child would be great at Glastonbury. Far better than some ugly blokes with guitars and crap hair singing rubbish songs about their girlfriends leaving them.

Look NME, I would also "like to headline Glastonbury".....

Since when was Glastonbury only about indie guitar bands? What kind of narrow-minded idiots are you? You shouldn't be at music festivals if you only want safe stuff. Indiewriter is right, they have usually had a pop act, and a few years back in 2000, the Pet shop Boys were second on the bill on the Saturday night. Way better than Travis who headlined. If people don't go to Glastonbury because of Jaz-Z or Beyonce then it says far more about them as people than it does about the Eavis family or the Festivals. Snobbery and Elitism are totally against the Glastonbury spirit. End of story.

the fought of it actually makes me feel sick might be abit cliche but someone who can play an instrument would be nice call me old fashioned

Right, so if we are trying to do something "NEW" these days, why not have an alternative rock or indie band perform at a hip-hop festival, like Rising Styles? That would be a fair deal, wouldn't it? But obviously thats not gonna happen, instead we'll just sell out the last decent music fest in the country to shitty pop artists. Last year I went inspite of JaZ, but if its another "somethingdifferent" headliner this year, fuck it.

Right then, so you have been living in a mud slide for 3 days, dodgy noodles for breakfast and drank 17 cases of strongbow who would you rather see Beyonce in a lil skimpy number or freak eyed self confessed ugly guy Thom Yorke?basic i know, but the truth lol

ed2005, IndieWriter stop jumping on the bandwagon of liberalism in music. Not being funny but beyonce is fucking shit, she doesn't write her own music or play an instrument, she just stands there wailing an shaking her fat arse, Glastonbury is going to turn into a pop festival the way things are going. Oh, and IndieWriter, your name and you comment about inevitable racism show how much of a scenester cunt you really are.

"Indie Snob: 'oh no! No guitars! I want Snow Patrol, Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs to headline because they're so interesting and different!'"yes i forgot hip hop and r&b was different.your boring, nah fair play to her though for her wanting there to be mud and that, she would have dived right in with the crowd.shes mental .hmmmm

Caponee, sounds like crap on your knees by the way.I think Beyonce is deserving of Glastonbury for at least a full body of work. If she doesn't play any Destiny's Child at least shes had 3 albums worth, you can most definitely get a good sort of greatest hits set from her at least. The woman has been working on finding herself creatively for 18 years and has found an army of fans. Same goes for the other ones like crazy in love = good, rest = poo. Have some respect for a woman that has such an exciting life.

IndieWriter- how can you claim that someone not wanting Beyonce on at Glasto is racist?I'm there next year and I would rather she wasnt on, but if she is i will excersize my right of choice and go to one of the many other stages...but to say I dont want her on because of a race issue would be ludicrous! I dont want the Kaiser Chiefs to be on next year. You could sya "well obviously you dont like Yorkshire folk", but no, its cos they are shit.

R.I.P Glastonbury..Can we have your thoughts on this Noely G???

the_troglodyte

Nov 12, 2008

Indiewriter you cannot say that people who don't want rap music at Glastonbury are probably racist, you probably work for the government though you left wing c***. If I want a burger in a restaurant i don't want a chicken caesar salad brought across with it, i want chips. It is totally hypocritical to call people who don't like rap music as being narrow minded and probably racist. You yourself are being narrow minded and judgemental by making that statement which makes you sound like you're talking shite (which you are). I don't like classical music and I don't like the Kaiser Chiefs or Bloc Party, but you probably think I'm racist for not liking Bloc Party because the lead singer is black which is incorrect because I think Jimi Hendrix is a legend, I love artists such as Al Green & BB King and I think it's encouraging that America now have a black president.Too much of this diversity is forced on British citiizens and it is this forced diversity that causes so much tension. I am personally all for living in a diverse society but when it's forced upon the public it causes tensions and this is what is the underlying problem in Britain today. It is people like IndieWriter who cause problems by branding people being racist for disliking a music genre dominated by black and asian artists. Rap music is a totally different genre, Rihanna sounds nothing like The Strokes and while people are perfectly entitled to like both if you go to Glastonbury you expect a predominately indie festival with headline acts from the appropriate genres. So to summarise IndieWriter I couldn't disagree with your comments more wholeheartedly than I do and just like I would say to Jay Z, Beyonce or Eminem at Glasto should the lefty loving Eavis's decide to get them along, you can f**k off with your stupid comments. Good day to all at NME and the readership.

Millwall mike its ignorant morons like you that keep ramming the likes of Jay-Z down everyones throats just coz you like him, just like with every other band/singer in the world there is always some people that like and some that dont that is why glasto is so diverse

cubbeh

Nov 12, 2008

Jimbo68 you wasnt their XD i came a half way through is set and the whole field was full, everyone doing as he commanded he was like a f*cking god to the crowd. And you have some dick on the computer going, 'oo i was their and everyone left'. *sigh* some people have no life.

Some of you are so narrow minded and judgemental - thinking you can speak for everyone by saying they 'want guitar music'. Glasto's always been about diversity, not plugging the same old radio friendly, anthemic, guitar-driven dross that headlines every other dullard festival nowadays. Some of the best acts I've seen at Glasto have included Cypress Hill, Orbital, Underworld, Brian Wilson, Squarepusher etc. Sure, other highlights have been guitar bands, but you people need to open up your minds a bit. If it's not to your taste, go and watch someone else. It's not killing the festival - it's makes it different from other, band-driven festivals like Reading and Leeds.

Nov 12, 2008

cubbeh you are having a f**king laugh aren't you yes there were a lot of people there but like you said you only bothered to turn up half way through you twat so the people that didnt want to see it had left & i suppose when the mighty Jay-Z was playing every other stage was empty was it, take your rose tinted glasses off for once just coz you might of been worshiping him like a god doesnt mean all 175000 people there have to unless of course someone died & has made you God, & as for having a life God yours must be so f**king perfect now you worship the mighty Jay-Z.Glasto is like life about diversity & if you don't like someone you go to another stage & watch someone else .

cubbeh

Nov 13, 2008

lol i dont like Jay-Z, i got bored of massive attack and went over to JayZ to meet some friends. you start going on about glastonbury is about diversity, well surely you could go f*ck off to some other place cus JayZ was F*cking brilliant and the crowd seemed to enjoy it enough to be their and not move onto the next stage like you said is so easy.

Jimbo68

Nov 13, 2008

cubbeh just like you got bored with massive attack i & numerous other people got bored with Jay-Z but that doesn't mean everyone else did, alot of people liked him & alot didnt, When you move up a year to year 7 at school you might be able to read & understand what i said, i never said everybody left so lets get that straight you twat , what i'm fed up of is stupid c**ts like you who think the whole world have to love Jay-Z well guess what we dont, but according to twats like you we are not allowed to say we don't like him well tough i didn't so as you put it i fucked off & watched something else, you probably had no choice sitting at home watching it on telly lol, when you finish school tonight go back to what you do best sucking the farts out of dead seagulls lol
