Beyonce’s burgeoning baby bump has broken the Twitter record for the most related tweets per second.

When the star revealed her bump at the MTV VMAs, the site recorded 8,868 tweets per second from its users. As such, Beyonce and husband Jay-Z's news pushed the previous record holder – Japan’s victory in the Women's World Cup over the United States in July – into second place. In third place is another football story – Brazil’s defeat to Paraguay in the Copa America, reports BBC Newsbeat.

This year’s VMAs also gave MTV its biggest audience since the network began recording its viewing figures, pulling in an estimated 12.4 million viewers.

Yesterday it was revealed that filming on the new version of A Star Is Born will be delayed following the news of its star Beyonce’s pregnancy.

The Clint Eastwood-directed movie was supposed to start shooting in February of next year, but this will now be pushed back to accommodate Beyonce's needs, reports

Beyonce has already appeared on the big screen in Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records, portraying Etta James in the latter film.

Meanwhile, the video for Beyonce's latest single ‘1+1’, has debuted online. You can watch it below.
