The US National Rifle Association has published a list of its "enemies" – including musicians Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Bon Jovi, disco diva Chaka Khan, Shania Twain and smooth R&B crooners Boyz II Men.

The list – which also includes George Clooney, Hallmark greetings cards and the Kansas City Royals baseball team – contains those who the pro-gun lobby group deem to be opponents, the BBC reports. "All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions," the NRA says.

The 500-strong list, titled Organizations With Anti-Gun Policies, originally appeared on the group's website but has now been taken down. It also featured actor Dick Van Dyke, Barbra Streisand, as well as Frank Zappa's children Ahmet, Diva, Dweezil and Moon – as well as his wife Gail.

Originally drawn up in September 2012, the list has attracted mockery on social media after supporters of gun control point out that the list includes virtually every prominent American, with the list divided into categories, including "Anti-Gun Individuals and Celebrities," journalists, civic organizations and corporations, as well as a religious leaders category.

The national debate about firearms in the US has been heightened after President Obama spoke for the need for a vote on gun control after the recent Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
