Beyonce gets an unwilling Princess Eugenie to sing to O2 crowd

Beyonce reportedly had a surprise guest vocalist at the first show of six at London's O2 Arena – Princess Eugenie.

Not least surprised was the royal herself, who had attended the concert as a fan with Kate Middleton’s brother, James, his new girlfriend, Donna Air, and designers Matthew Williamson and Patrick Cox, reports The Mirror. Beyonce appeared to have not a clue who she'd picked on.

The incident happened during a portion of the two-hour show in which Beyonce zips from the main stage to a circular secondary stage constructed on the floor of the arena. As is customary when playing 'Irreplacable', she randomly picks on those near the front of the stage to sing the line "To the left, to the left". Last night, one of those just happened to be the Queen's granddaughter. Eugenie, for her part, looked surprised to suddenly be part of the action and quickly ducked to the floor after mouthing the words. “All Eugenie’s friends were teasing her about her stage fright for hours afterwards," a source tells The Mirror.

Beyonce last night (April 30) played the second night of her O2 residency, performing for another packed house and – as happened previously – covering part of The Verve's 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'. Her song 'If I Were A Boy' replicated the Verve hit's string sample, and the lyrics were changed to include the 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' line "I'm a million different people from one day to the next".
