Biffy Clyro have revealed that there will be "no reggae songs or dubstep" on their forthcoming new album.

The Scottish band, who are currently working on the follow-up to their fifth LP 'Only Revolutions' and hope to release it this year, told BBC Radio 1 that although they were writing songs in a "different manner", they'd still be sticking to what they were "comfortable" with.

Singer Simon Neil said:

We're just investigating and experimenting with what we feel comfortable doing. We haven't got any reggae songs or dubstep.

He did reveal that there were some unusual influences on the album, though, adding: "There are a couple of songs that are written entirely on keyboards, string sounds, and I guess Phil Collins-type electro beats behind it."

Earlier this month, Biffy Clyro revealed that their new LP would be a double album and that they were aiming to finish work on the record by April.

Biffy Clyro are confirmed to appear at this summer's Isle Of Wight Festival, alongside the likes of Elbow, Example, Noah And The Whale, Madness, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and The Vaccines as well as headliners Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen.

Yesterday (January 16), meanwhile, the band were added to this year's Download Festival line-up. To check the availability of Download Festival 2012 tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
