Biffy Clyro record new album on a farm

Band are hoping to complete 'Puzzle' follow-up next year

Biffy Clyro record new album on a farm
Biffy Clyro have retreated to a farm to record the follow-up to their 2007 album 'Puzzle'.

The band are currently working on demos for the new record and are planning to finish it next year.

Bassist James Johnston said: "We've been working hard on a little farm in a little barn, working on demos and new songs.

"We are not quite ready to go yet, we probably won't go into it until next year.

"We'd love to put it out as soon as possible but we just need to be patient and get everything right. We'll be back before too long, but I think we are going to have a little break for the next couple of months. People won't hear too much from us."

He also urged big bands to take a cut in the fees they charge to play UK festivals following the credit crunch.

Johnston told BBC 6Music: "I know that some of the fees that bands get paid are extraordinary. It's easy for me to say as not being one of those acts - maybe the bands could just take a little bit less."

As previously reported on NME.COM, singer Simon Neil claimed that the new material contained some of his band's heaviest riffs to date, and added that the Scottish three-piece had brought keyboards into the mix.
