Biffy Clyro premiere 'Satanic' new song at chapel gig

Band play Mencap Little Noise Session in London

Biffy Clyro premiered a new song at their Mencap Little Noise Session in London last night (November 12).

The Scottish rockers were the latest band to play the week of acoustic charity shows Islingon’s Union Chapel in the north of the city, with support from Friendly Fires and Frank Turner.

Taking the opportunity to debut the song 'God And Satan', slated for the fifth album they are currently writing, the group's frontman Simon Neil told NME.COM before the show that they wouldn't mention the track by name, because of the church setting.

"There's another one that we're not even going to play because the lyrics are even more 'edgy'. Too edgy for a chapel!" he said. "So I'm not going to announce it later. I can't say that, because it'll just be too much. I'll sing about it though."

Opening with a stripped-back version of 'Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies', Biffy Clyro took the opportunity to dust off older fan favourites like 'Christopher's River' and 'Got Wrong' alongside acoustic versions of newer songs including 'Mountains'.

The trio played a full-band acoustic set-up, and played it relatively straight, in contrast to last year's Little Noise session, when they appeared in the pulpit singing an acapella version of 'Infinity Land' track 'There's No Such Man As Crasp'.

Before encoring with 'Scary Mary', Neil confessed to the crowd: "That's pretty much our entire acoustic collection there. This is the last song we can physically play, so it turns out it will be the last one."
