Biffy Clyro played three new tracks – including new single 'That Golden Rule' – at the Corn Exchange venue in Edinburgh last night (August 21) as part of The Edge Festival.
Taking to the stage to a packed, sell-out crowd, the trio launched straight into new single 'That Golden Rule', which has already become a fan favourite, with many hardcore followers crowd-surfing and stage-diving to the song.
Although the set was heavy on tracks from their last album, the platinum 'Puzzle', the Kilmarnock band played 'The Kids From Kibble And The Fist Of Light', which had been missing from their set since 'Puzzle''s release.
"This is for everyone who was in the pissing rain waiting to get in earlier," said lead singer Simon Neil, before playing new song 'Born On A Horse' – which sees the band return to a sound similar to that of their 'Infinity Land' album.
Of the three new tracks, 'Bubbles' – which starts off like a 'Puzzle'-style ballad before breaking down into a schizophrenic romp with trademark meandering guitar riffs – received the best reaction from the sweaty crowd, who threw trainers and pints of beer in the air in appreciation.
Before set-closer 'Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies', Neil thanked the crowd and promised the band would return to the Scottish capital soon. He said: "Thanks so much for coming to see us, we have been a bit rusty, but we will see you all next month."
