Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil ‘almost back to full strength’ following illness

The band were forced to cancel shows following frontman's bout of bronchitis

Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil has told fans that he is “almost back to full strength” after suffering from bronchitis.

The band were forced to cancel their performance at the second weekend of the Coachella Festival in California last month and pulled out of all their US tour dates due to his illness.

However, Neil has now taken to Twitter to assure fans that he is on the mend, writing:

Hi everyone. Thank you for the kind words and best wishes. Almost back to full strength. Can’t wait to see you all soon. Simon.x

The Scottish rockers returned home after playing the first weekend of Coachella, cancelling support slots with Muse.

They posted a statement on their website which read:

“Simon Neil has been struggling with a serious respiratory problem on the shows, including two nights supporting Muse at Madison Square Garden on Monday and Tuesday of this week, and was advised by doctors that he was endangering his long term health if he chose to continue performing on this run.”

Biffy Clyro, The Vaccines, Vampire Weekend and Calvin Harris are among the acts confirmed to play BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

The annual bash will take place in Londonderry, Northern Ireland on the weekend of May 24-26. The line-up was announced earlier today live on air during Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

Biffy Clyro, who released their UK Number One double album ‘Opposites’ in February, will also headline this year’s Reading And Leeds Festivals. They will top the bill at Leeds on Friday August 23, and Reading on Sunday August 25. Eminem and Green Day are the other two Main Stage headliners.
