Biffy Clyro appear to have released a cryptic teaser for their forthcoming seventh album.

A 13-second audio clip posted on Twitter this afternoon (March 11) features the sound of laughter and a band member asking: "Record this?" Check it out below.

Biffy Clyro discussed their eagerly-anticipated new album in an interview with NME in January, promising it will be "leaner and meaner' than their last LP, 2013's 'Opposites'.

"This album is going to be the opposite of cinematic," frontman Simon Neil said at the time. "If the last records were kind of Ridley Scott, then this one is more John Waters. It's quite dirty! We've taken a lot of influence from recent hip-hop records, like the latest A$AP Rocky – they're so fucking good because they've got really grimy, dirty, horrible sounds with beautiful vocals, or vice versa."

Neill then said of the album's lyrics: "It's the first album where I've tried to come out fighting, give the people who've upset me a bit of what-for. I feel like this one is me saying that I know who I am, here are my strengths, here are my flaws, it is what it is... It's fight rock, pint-in-the-face rock."

At the time, Neil predicted that the album should "come out in April or May". Biffy Clyro have since been confirmed as Reading & Leeds Festival headliners and been added to the lineup of Portuguese festival NOS Alive.
