BIG COUNTRY star STUART ADAMSON is believed to have committed suicide, it has emerged.

Investigator Jimmy Annino of the medical examiner's office has revealed that Adamson, discovered in a Honolulu hotel room on Sunday (December 16), died from asphyxia due to hanging. He was found by a cleaner at the Western Plaza hotel near the city's airport, reports the Daily Mirror.

The tragic star went missing from his home in Nashville, Tennessee on November 7. He had left a note for his 19-year-old son Calum on November 7 reading "back by noon Sunday" - four days later. He was not seen again.

The Big Country frontman had been battling alcoholism since the mid-80's.
