Big Star's original bassist Andy Hummel has died aged 59.
As Dfw.com reports, Hummel passed away in Weatherford, Texas on Monday (July 19) after a two-year battle with cancer.
The news of the bassist's death comes just four months after frontman Alex Chilton died.
After Chilton passed away, a number of acts, including members of REM and The Lemonheads, plus Andy Hummel, paid tribute to the frontman at a show during Austin's SXSW festival.
His funeral is due to take place later today (July 21).
