RIGHTS OF BILL

Soul legend BILL WITHERS has followed in the footsteps of MADONNA, winning the right to use his name on the Internet.

The World Intellectual Properties Organisation (WIPO), which is based in Switzerland, has ruled that www.billwithers.com should be transferred to the influential singer, whose hits include 'Lovely Day', 'Lean On Me' and 'Just The Two Of Us' (which was recently covered by Will Smith).

WIPO asserted that the website's original owner - who had created the portal in tribute to the star - had to give the domain name over to the singer, who has now since linked it to his current record label, who have provided viewers the chance to buy his classic records online.

The same organisation found in favour of Madonna last October.

The world's greatest music magazine is now available as a digital edition! For exclusive content you won't find on NME.COM, download here on your iPad/iPhone and here on your Kindle Fire or Nook.
