MANDA GETS DOWN TO BIS-NESS

BBC SCOTLAND are to launch a new alternative radio show called 'AIR' - hosted by BIS singer MANDA RIN, real name AMANDA MCKINNON.

'Air' starts on November 20, and will broadcast every Monday from 7-10pm on Radio Scotland, 92.4-94FM. The show will also be broadcast online between 7-11pm, at www.bbc.co.uk/air.

Programmers promise that 'Air' will be "a broad mix of specialist music, some old stuff, album tracks and new Scottish bands & DJs".

Speaking about the new show, Manda told NME.COM: "I'm really excited about presenting 'Air', firstly because I'm a fan of music and I've been involved in the music industry for a long time. I also know what it's like to be in a band when you are trying to get recognised and how hard it is to have your music heard when your band is that bit more obscure or innovative and mainstream radio stations don't want to know. I'm proud that this show will give bands with a bit of diversity that chance".

The show will be produced by former Executive Producer of Specialist Music at BBC Radio 1, Claire Pattenden.

In addition to the show, the website will also contain a live webcam, club guides and a guide to Scottish record labels. Following the end of every show, the program will continue for one more hour online as a live DJ mix.
