DJ AM files lawsuit following deadly plane crash

Adam Goldstein sues pilots' estates

Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein has filed a lawsuit against companies and the pilots he alleges were involved in the deadly September plane crash that claimed the lives of everyone on board except Goldstein and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.

Goldstein filed his complaint for negligence and breach of contract Tuesday (December 23) in Los Angeles Superior Court, reports the Associated Press. In the suit he names several companies and the estates of the two pilots, who both died in the crash.

The suit reportedly does not specify the amount he hopes to receive for damages including pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of wages. It does, however, seek a trial by jury.

The cause of the South Carolina crash has not yet been determined, but it is suspected that a faulty tire may have played a role in the crash. The lawsuit names Goodyear Tire And Rubber Co, which responded that it was premature to speculate on what role tires may have played.

Barker has also filed lawsuits on behalf of the families of his bodyguard and assistant, who were killed in the crash.

The duo are set to perform their first show together since the crash on New Year's Eve (December 31) in Los Angeles under the moniker TRVSDJAM, as previously reported.

How the fuck can someone who managed to walk away from a plane crash have the indecency to file a lawsuit against the families of the 2 pilots who lost their lives that day?I really dont think that the 2 pilots had planned to come to work, crash the plane and leave their wives without husbands and children without fathers. And you want money? Im sure your medical expenses were covered by insurance and that you make more than enough money by playing "other peoples music".I really wish that anyone else on the flight had survived except you and travis!

What a joke, you'd think that walking away with his life would be enough. But then again, you can't fart in america without being sued for it.

Are you KIDDING ME?? Of course they are going to sue...I don't necessarily agree with filing against the *estates* of the pilots, since, yes, their families have suffered a loss as well and it's a unkind to punish those who had no hand in the tragedy. HOWEVER, they should absolutely sue the airline, to ensure the safety of others, find out if proper safety precautions were taken and protocol followed, if training was up to date and staff (pilots) qualified to the highest standards. Also, if faulty equipment was involved, the companies responsible for producing and distributing that equipment needs to be thoroughly checked, inspected, rechecked and monitored. What if it resulted in a recall of faulty equipment from a plane you or your family was planning to fly on? Wouldn't you be glad then that someone bothered to initiate a lawsuit and further investigation, so that the "at fault" parties couldn't just sweep it under the rug? THAT'S WHY CORPORATIONS HAVE INSURANCE. In case they, or someone who works for them, or equipment they own, gets someone hurt. They didn't "get out with their lives" with any help from the airline, the pilots, the equipment companies - they got out, but not without sustaining injury, and worse! - losing dear, dear friends. have you ever heard of "survivor's guilt"? Look it up, Along with "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder", maybe then you'll have an idea what this incident means to these men and the families and coworkers of all involved. Also, we don't know how much money is being asked for as reparation, or what they plan to do with it. They have also filed suit on behalf of the friends they lost and their families. And don't think for a second that the families of those who died (Bless their souls) are going to let this lie either. Everyone should be outraged! When lawyers get involved, some desicions are made w/o previous consultation, AND we know that information is very often reported inaccurately by the media. For whatever reason. misquote, typo, misunderstanding, mistakes in filing paper work, interpretation. So I think that while you may think the legal actions are inappropriate, I think it is far more crass, classless, unkind and totally inappropriate to say that you "really wish that anyone else on the flight had survived except you and travis!". Also, "you can't fart in america without being sued for it.", is a moronic statement in itself and hardly worth the time I wasted reading it. Grow up, learn some compassion, and do yourselves, and the rest of us, a favor: don't go spouting off random BS. If you have comment to make, an opinion to state, do so. If you have given it at least *some* thought, and don't need to use insults and outlandish generalizations.

People sue when they stack it on the street or spill hot coffee on their trousers, so this is by compariston, a very worthwhile and justified lawsuit.
