Blink-182 cancel gig following DJ AM's death

Band pull out of New York show

Blink-182 cancelled a gig in New York last night (August 31) following the death of their friend and collaborator DJ AM.

The band pulled their appearance at the Saragota Performing Arts Centre following the news that DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, had passed away on Friday (August 28).

A message on the band's official website, Blink182.com, stated: "Due to circumstances surrounding the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, Blink-182 will not be playing tonight in Saratoga, NY at SPAC. We thank all of our fans for their support in this tough time."

Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French, who were also on the bill for the event, were set to go ahead with their sets.

Blink-182 are set to resume touring at the Cleveland Blossom venue tomorrow (September 2).

Before he became a full-time DJ, AM was already a fixture in the music world. He was a member of the rock group Crazytown who’s song “Butterfly” off the Platinum album: “The Gift of the Game” went straight to number 1 on the top 40 charts in April of 2001. The suicide of DJ AM wasn't something that anyone really saw coming. He was only 36 years old, he was relatively famous, successful, he had everything going for him, and they've been speaking to anyone who will discuss it that knew him. He was dating model Haley Wood at the time, and though it would seem that a person should perhaps be left to her grief – the vultures are what they are, and had to get a statement. Haley Wood disclosed that rumors that DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, and her were very much together, and a rumored breakup was a detestable rumor. It would be great if someone could give the gossip hounds a cash advance to let celebrities, like Haley Wood, grieve in privacy.
