Blink-182 are planning to release a brand new album in the "late spring/early summer" of next year.

The punk-pop band released their most recent album and their sixth studio LP, 'Neighborhoods', in 2009. Speaking to Kerrang!, bassist Mark Hoppus said that the trio are hoping to head into the studio at the start of next year and have the record out not long after. "We haven't thought about any new songs yet," said Hoppus, but explained that the band will write the new album when they reconvene in the studio.

"It always happens when the three of us are together in a room," said Hoppus of writing. "Because when [we're not touring], Tom lives in San Diego, Travis lives in Los Angeles and I live in London, so we don't really talk all that much. But then when we get in a room together, it all falls into place and we start making jokes. That's when we start writing songs and reconnecting with everything."

Blink-182 head out on a short tour of the United States this September, which includes headline sets at Riot Fest in both Chicago and Denver.

Blink-182's latest release was the 'Dogs Eating Dogs' EP in December 2012. The band split from their label Interscope in 2011.
