McBusted, the pop supergroup featuring members of McFly and Busted, are working with Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 on their new album.

The group are penning original material together after first forming for an arena tour earlier this year, in which songs from both bands' back catalogues were performed.

The news was revealed by Dougie Poynter, originally of McFly, during a Twitter conversation with a fan earlier today (August 26). Asked how excited he was about making an album with McBusted, he responded affirmatively and confirmed that writing sessions with both Hoppus and Alex Gaskarth of US pop-punks All Time Low had taken place.

McBusted previously suggested they would not record together with Tom Fletcher of McFly saying, "For now it's just the tour, but if we come up with something and write some songs that we think are incredible, then we'll release it," at a London press conference in 2013.

Meanwhile, Blink-182 headlined Reading And Leeds Festivals 2014 this weekend, bringing toilet jokes, flames and hits to both sites on Sunday and Friday night respectively. Click here to read the Leeds set report and here for Reading.
