BLOC PARTY TOUR COMPLETE

With a whole host of celebs present to enjoy the action…

BLOC PARTY wrapped up their debut AMERICAN tour in HOLLYWOOD last night (October 5) to a packed crowd at CLUB CINESPACE.

The London based group’s four city, seven date trek took in hundreds of fans each night including Interpol, DFA label head James Murphy, actress Shannyn Sossamon, model Devin Aoki and Chromeo.

"This US trip has just been to kind of get out there, to play some shows and promote a new [self-titled, stateside only] EP that was released in September," frontman Kele Okereke told NME.COM.

"There have been quite a few [A&R people at the shows] and it’s brought back memories of the start of the year when we were an unsigned band and labels were vying for our attention. It is a strange situation – everyone’s trying to buy you meals and say nice things, but it’s just a bit absurd."

Bloc Party return home later this week and will kick off their biggest UK tour this Sunday in Brighton.

The band will be supporting single 'Helicopter', due out October 25 on Wichita.

The track comes from the band’s 2005-due debut full length, Silent Alarm, recorded with The Futureheads and Babyshambles producer Paul Epworth over the summer.

"I’m really pleased that we made an album that was as good as we hoped it would be," Okereke said of the effort. "Everyone’s been really positive about us so far [and] the album’s going to cement that. This album’s going to really wake people up."
