Emily Haines wrapped up her solo tour of North America last night (January 23) at the Los Angeles El Rey Theatre.

The Metric frontwoman was supporting her debut solo album, ‘Knives Don’t Have Your Back’, released in the US last September and coming out in the UK this spring.

Haines breezed through nearly the entire album with her stellar backing band, The Soft Skeleton, featuring Sparklehorse drummer Scott Minor and a full string section.

“I wrote a lot of this album in a wooden room near here by the 99 Cent Store,” she told the packed house. “So I’m feeling a bit nostalgic. I love you LA - and not everybody does. But I know you.”

The rapt audience bantered with Haines during breaks in her set, which ran just over an hour.

Now that her solo jaunt has ended, Haines will rejoin Metric on their tour of the UK supporting Bloc Party, which kicks off this Saturday (January 27).
