Rumours build that stadium will host climate concert
New York's Shea Stadium is rumoured to be hosting the north American leg of Live Earth, the Concert For A Climate In Distress, on July 7.
As previously reported, the gigs will take place at seven separate locations, each one on a different continent. Confirmed locations so far include London’s Hyde Park, Johannesburg, Shanghai and Sydney.
Glide reports that the fact the resident baseball team The Mets will be away from the park from June 29 to July 11 suggests the Shea Stadium rumour to be true.
Shea Stadium famously played host to The Beatles in 1966, as well as shows by The Police and Bruce Springsteen.
Bands set to play the Live Earth concert include Bloc Party, Kanye West and Snow Patrol.
