Bloc Party premiere new material in Iceland

Airwaves Festival gets premiere of 'Flux'

Bloc Party premiered new material today (October 20) during their performance on day two of the Iceland Airwaves festival.

The band performed tracks, including their brand new single 'Flux', during their set at Reykjavik Art Museum.

Following an adrenaline-charged performance of 'Flux', frontman Kele Okereke said: ”That was our new song from myths of the future,” in a clear reference to Klaxons 'Myths Of The Near Future' album.

The packed show saw Okereke crowdsurfing during 'She's Hearing Voices' after taunting the audience, saying: “This is a Bloc Party show – are you guys dancing?”

During the track, Okereke sang lines from Pixies' 'Where Is My Mind?'.

A member of the enthusiastic crowd threw a t-shirt to Okereke before 'Hunting For Witches', promoting him to say: “Fair enough. I like presents. This is our first time in your beautiful country and you don't know what to expect when you play a country for the first time, but this is lovely.”

Earlier in the day, hotly-tipped bands The Ghost, FM Belfast and D.W.D. played the Naked Ape shop.
