Bloc Party reveal new non-album single - exclusive

'Talons' doesn't feature on recent download album 'Intimacy'

Bloc Party have exclusively revealed to NME.COM that their next single will be called 'Talons'.

Released on October 20, the track doesn't feature on the band's recently released download album 'Intimacy'.

Speaking to NME.COM, singer Kele Okereke declared that the band wanted to "keep things fresh".

"'Talons' is one of the last songs we recorded during the 'Intimacy' sessions," he said. "I always had it in mind to be one of the extra tracks we promised for the CD. It turned out so great so we decided to make it the next single, simple as that."

this single will be make or break for bloc party. it is a chance to forgive their fans for intimacy, on the other hand, another dissappointment will see some angry fans.......

I think that Intimacy was good but not brilliant. What I like about Bloc Party is there pure indie rock. Modern day rock that doesn't really have a pop edge like some of todays other bands such as Kaiser Chiefs or Razorlight. The new album has too much of a dance feel for me clearly seen on Mercury.

Intimacy was an excellent album, not as good as Silent Alarm but still rocking. No idea why people say its "experimental" when its not either. I swear people have probably just heard Mercury and thats it.Bloc Party don't need to apologise for it at all, fans loved it. I do hope that they'll release more singles from it to give people better impressions of it.

Intimacy is a great album and I think Bloc Party are one of the most innovative and forward-thinking bands around. I hope this single is up to the standard of the rest of the album...

Here's a quote from the bloc party wiki page about the single,"On September 8, 2008 Bloc Party announced that they will be premiering their new single "Talons" on September 9, 2008 on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio One show. The new single will be part of the Intimacy CD's extra tracks and will be available as a free download to fans who bought the album from their site."

I'm a bit split over Intimacy, Mercury does nothing for me but there are other tracks on it that are quite good, like Halo. I agree with hadrianm, more singles are needed

intimacy was an average album, if this was a new band coming out now with this album people would slate them, however maybe not because glasvegas are being bummed right now and they fucking shite.silent alarm - amazingweekend in the city - goodintimacy - average4th album - lets hope for a different pattern

Im not sure about Intimacy at the momeny. Ares is my favourite of their songs...it's incredible. But the rest is very hit and miss.Talons is easily better than half of Intimacy. Mainly because Kele actually uses a melody and some vague rhymes...it worked on Weekend but Intimacy is really lacking a good melodic core.I think all this extra releases are to give the illusion of a prolific output when it was probably all planned in some respects ahead of it all.
