Bloc Party's Kele Okereke slams The Killers

Bands avoid each other's sets at America festival

Bloc Party's Kele Okereke has launched a thinly-veiled attack on The Killers.

The two bands recently appeared on the same Oakland, California radio station as each other, but Okereke admitted he purposefully avoided Brandon Flowers and co.

"I didn't watch The Killers," Okereke told the Daily Mirror. "In fact, I made sure I left before they came onstage."

Okereke did not explain what had prompted him to shun the Las Vegas band.

I'm not a big fan of the Killers but bloc party are complete rubbish. Kele Okereke is an ego maniac who is afraid of his own shadow.

Honestly, does anyone really care about this?? Bloc Party are complete shite and the Killers are overrated. Can we have the new Editors album already???

He's a fuckwit, pure and simple. Only Bloc Party can get away with writing the same song over and over again. He's like a tone-deaf Morrissey.

Jealously maybe or is it that they are good. Whatever the reason is, his explanation is going to be pointless or he's going to say that he was misunderstood.

The Killers are rubbish but this talentless berk should think seriously about splitting up his own shit attempt at a band and not making any more wanky attempts at music

Indeed. "Man in band dislikes other band's music and isn't afraid to say it". Shocking really. Why can't we all get along like they did in the 1960s?

I was at this show, and Kele made a joke about whether the people in the audience were human or dancers, and then seemed visibly embarassed about such a comment. I don't think he has any issue with the band, I think he just felt uncomfortable with what he said.

unless you're anticipation for the new editors album was sarcasm, you are an utter disgrace "rggfoot".

lollllllll.....the Editors are the biggest pile of sub SUB joy division/Bunnymen wannabes ever, even White lies are better....as for Bloc party and killers.....two of the shittest bands of all time.

If this Okereke spent less time causing shit, and spent some time on his songwriting, then may be he would be more popular with an Audience, he thinks, like him. Hes got a shittly little band, and i think, over the last 6 months, we can see where hes coming from, and it will, all, end in tears.

He was obviously frightened of hearing songs that were melodious..

I thought they must be buddies - they were both on the 2005 NME Awards tour so must have had a chance to get to know each other - Bloc Party appeared on stage for the singalong of 'All These Things That I've Done' at the end of the Killers set at Brixton. Then at this years Reading/Leeds festivals the same double bill was repeated, and I was under the impression the headliner at Reading usually had a hand in picking the rest of the bill, so why would the Killers agree to it if they didn't get on?Have to say this type of stuff seems to follow Kele suggesting he is the problem, not anyone else.
