Bloc Party have debuted 'Octopus', the first single to be taken from their forthcoming 'Four' album.

The track aired on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show earlier this evening (July 10) and is now available to listen to online.

Scroll down to listen to the song, which will be available to download tomorrow (July 11) and will be released on limited edition seven-inch vinyl along with the song 'Straight Thru Cru' on August 13.

Speaking to Lowe after the first play of the song, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke said: "This song was one of the last songs that we wrote [for the new album]... We knew we had something so we kept beavering away and, before we knew it, we had it."

He added that he was looking forward to touring the record with the band, but acknowledged the fact that a hectic schedule had caused problems in the past. He said: "I'm looking forward to performing this record because I’m very proud of it," but added that there was "some trepidation when I look at my schedule and it's already booked up until summer next year!"

Kele also explained that the band are currently filming a documentary. Although he wasn't giving away any more details he did say to "watch this space".

'Four' is the follow up to 2008's 'Intimacy' and will be released on August 20. It has been produced by Death Cab For Cutie/The Mars Volta producer Alex Newport.

Bloc Party tour the UK in October, playing a total of eight shows. The dates kick off at Newcastle's O2 Academy on October 12 and run until October 20, when the band headline Cambridge Corn Exchange. The run also includes gigs in Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester.
