Kele Okereke: 'I want another Bloc Party record'
Singer guarantees there will be a follow up to 'Four' 'in some form'
Bloc Party have clarified comments they made in an interview this week suggesting that their new album 'Four' could be their last.
Writing on his blog, frontman Kele Okereke said he was speaking "absentmindedly" this week when he suggested that he wasn't sure where the band would go after 'Four'.
He wrote: "I want to make it clear that I want another BP record as much as anyone, it really just depends on us being inspired together as a band."
Okereke continued: "The reason we made 'Four' was because it came so easily that it just made sense. We only finished this record a few months ago so right now we are all pretty much exhausted, we haven't felt the need to start writing any new music. I know this will change once we go on tour, because this is how we have always felt after every record."
He added: "Don't stress internet, I am sure that once we start touring we will start writing again and once we start writing there will be a record in some form I guarantee".
Earlier this week, Okereke said that he wasn't sure about the future of the group. "I don't know where we'll go from here," he said. "I don't know what will happen. But I know if this is the last thing we ever do, then we've done everything I wanted to do."
Last week (July 29), Bloc Party unveiled a new track titled 'Day Four', which is the second track to be taken from their new album 'Four' - listen to it below. Earlier this month (July 10), the band premiered the track 'Octopus', which you can also hear below.
The band will tour the UK in October, playing a total of eight shows. The dates kick off at Newcastle's O2 Academy on October 12 and run until October 20, when the band headline Cambridge Corn Exchange. The run also includes gigs in Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester.
