This year's Latitude Festival begins at Henham Park, Suffolk today (July 18), with a headline performance from Bloc Party.

Speculation is mounting that this may be the last Bloc Party performance for some time, with members of the band having spoken of a planned hiatus after their appearance.

Guitarist Russell Lissack told Postmedia News: "Definitely after we finish the festivals in the summer we'll be taking some time off. At least six months, maybe a year, maybe two years, it's hard to say." However, frontman Kele Okereke more recently played down the story, telling DIY: "I haven't said anything of the sort… We’ve been on tour for a year and a half, so when we stop touring, we’re going to decompress for a while and do other things. I think that’s the story. It’s not that exciting."

Other acts appearing on the festival's main stage, Obelisk Arena, today include The Leisure Society, Tim Burgess, Stornoway, I Am Kloot, Yo La Tengo, Cat Power and Maccabees. The BBC Radio 6 Music Stage sees performances from Theme Park, James Skelly & The Intenders, Willy Mason, Akron/Family, John Grant, Beth Orton, Richard Thompson Electric Trio, Villagers, Calexico and headliners Texas.

Saturday at the festival is headlined by Kraftwerk, while Foals bring it to a close on Sunday. The band told NME they want people to "lose their minds" during their set – click the video below to watch.

According to a spokeswoman at the Met Office yesterday (July 18), festival goers are in for good weather – the forecast promises warm weather from the outset with dry, bright sunny spells and temperatures reaching 23 degrees today.
