Blood Red Shoes found themselves under the scrutiny of the law as they began their European summer tour with Maximo Park.

The pair – who recently played on the Topman NME New Music Tour – were pulled over by customs at Dover as they attempted to head to France.

The duo were stopped because there was a warrant out for the arrest of someone who has the same surname as drummer Steven Ansell – and that real criminal was last driving a white van with a dark-haired female accomplice.

With Ansell and long, brown-haired singer Laura-Mary Carter driving a tour van, the band were then subjected to some unwanted attention from the authorities.

Fortunately, according to the band’s spokesperson, they were “Eventually released after proving they were not from Orpington, and were in fact not criminals, but a band touring France”.

With the band now at liberty they are able to continue with a series of festival appearances including T In The Park (July 7), Latitude (15), Lovebox Weekender (21), Truck (22), Electric Gardens (August 4), Underage Festival (10) and the Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals (24-25).
