Blood Red Shoes have announced a new three-track EP, 'Water', which will be released on January 21, 2013 – listen to the track 'Black Distractions' below.

The band have also announced a headline date at London's Shepherd’s Bush Empire on January 22, following their show at Norwich Arts Centre on January 21.

The three new tracks were recorded in Dallas, Texas this October with producer John Congleton, who has previously worked with The Roots, The Walkmen and Explosions In The Sky.

Drummer Steven Ansell said: "One of the first times Laura and I actually met was at a show that John Congleton's band The Paper Chase were playing in London eight years ago. We've known John since then and always been in touch about doing some recording sometime....so we finally made it happen at the end of our recent US tour. We did it super fast down at his studio in Dallas, Texas straight after our last show of the US tour."

He added: "The songs themselves are some of the most out-and-out rock riffs we've ever written, inspired a lot by driving around the USA and pure badass rock 'n' roll immediacy - they're much looser, faster, and less considered than 'In Time To Voices' (their 2012 album) and we wanted to capture that feeling and not make it too perfect."

Stream the track 'Black Distractions' from 'Water' below.

The tracklisting for 'Water' is:

'Red River'
'Black Distractions'
'Idle Hands'

Blood Red Shoes play:

Norwich Arts Centre (January 21)
Shepherds Bush Empire (with Rolo Tomassi and Wet Nuns) (22)

'Water' can be streamed in full at www.bloodredshoes.co.uk, where you can also download 'Black Distractions' for free.
