SORRY

Robbie Williams still top of album chart...

SORRY
Elton John and boy-band Blue have gone to the top of the UK chart today (December 15) with a new version of the veteran star's hit 'When Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word'.

The track was originally a number 11 hit for Elton John in 1976 and counts as his fifth time atop the single charts. It's Blue's third number one. The track sold just over 87.000 this week, well ahead of The Cheeky Girls who stay at number two on sales of almost 64,000. Last week's number one from Eminem sold over 53,000 copies this week, slipping to number three.

The second highest new entry this week comes from Elvis-adoring pop whippersnapper Gareth Gates. After three consecutive number ones, he debuts at five with 'What My Heart Wants To Say'. His entry is one ahead of S Club Juniors and their questionable version of The Osmonds 'Puppy Love'.

Pink's latest single 'Family Portrait' just misses the top 10 entering at number 11. However, there was better news for her on the album front. Her current LP 'Missundaztood' sold its millionth copy this week and is close to being the biggest seller of the year. However, chances are Robbie Williams will end the year as the biggest seller. His 'Escapology' today sits ontop of the album chart for the fourth consecutive week and is closing the gap on Pink.

On down the single chart, Ja Rule with a guest appearance from bad boy Bobby Brown enters at 15 with 'Thug Lovin', one ahead of Holly Valance at 16 with 'Naughty Girl'. The Australian starlet is one ahead of opera-lite star Russell Watson at 17 with 'Nothing Sacred - Song For Kirsty'. Bon Jovi enter at 21 with 'Misunderstood' and Declan is the only other chart entry this week at number 29.

There are no entries on the album top 10.

The real tussle starts tomorrow when singles from the boyband and the girlband from Popstars The Rivals are released and will go head to head for Christmas number one.
