UK’s entrant Blue come 11th while Jedward finish in eighth place

Azerbaijan's Ell/Nikki win the Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Azerbaijan have won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Dussledorf, Germany.

The nation's winning entrant was duo Ell/Nikki with their song 'Running Scared', which beat off competition from 25 other European countries and picked up 221 points to win the contest. Azerbaijan’s win means the competition will be hosted in their city of Baku next year.

Italy came second with 189 points, with Sweden placing third with 185 points. Switzerland came in last with 19 points, meaning no countries received the humiliation of scoring nothing at all.

The UK’s entry was boyband Blue, who finished 11th after scoring 100 points with their new single 'I Can'.

Former X Factor contestants Jedward, who were representing Ireland, came eighth, scoring 119 points with their song 'Lipstick', despite receiving the maximum 12 points from the UK’s share of the votes.
