Blur and The Stone Roses will appear on the same night at this year's Coachella Festival.

The annual US event marks The Stone Roses first American gigs since reforming in 2012 and will see the band perform alongside fellow reformed Brits, Blur. Also performing on the Friday of the festival, which runs over two consecutive weekends between April 12-14 and April 19-21, will be Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Johnny Marr, Lou Reed, Modest Mouse and Jake Bugg.

Phoenix will be the festival's second headliner, appearing on a bill which also includes The xx, Postal Service, Sigur Ros, New Order, Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, Two Door Cinema Club, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Franz Ferdinand.

The third and final Coachella headliner for 2013 will be Red Hot Chili Peppers. The veteran rockers will close the festival on both weekends, topping a bill which also includes Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, Jessie Ware, Tame Impala, James Blake and Grimes.

As expected, The Rolling Stones will not be appearing at the festival. Speaking to NME exclusively to deny the rumours linking the band to the festival, Mick Jagger said: "We're not gonna do Coachella, 'cos it's too early. There was a rumour we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn’t it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April. But we're not gonna stop."

Coachella was headlined by The Black Keys, Radiohead and a special performance from Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg which saw the first appearance of the now infamous Tupac hologram.
