Tokyo Rocks festival has been cancelled, organisers have announced.

The Japanese festival, which was due to take place May 11-12, 2013 with a line-up that included Blur, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Carl Barat and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, was cancelled yesterday (March 31) due to "several factors".

No further details have been given at this stage, but a message on the official website (Japanese only), where the cancellation was announced, gives details of where ticket owners can receive refunds.

The news will likely disappointment My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields who previously told NME about how much he was looking forward to playing the festival, which was to be held at the 60,000 capacity Ajinomoto Stadium.

Speaking in November about the festival, he said: "Tokyo Rocks is going to be interesting because it’s going to be in a new venue. Primal Scream played it last year and Debbie [Googe, MBV bassist] played with them, she said it was good so we were like ‘Cool, we’ll do it’. It’s in some baseball stadium, it’ll be the biggest semi-enclosed gig we’ve ever done."
